Though Preity Zinta moved to the USA after tying the knot with husband Gene Goodenough, she keeps travelling to India for work — especially when her team, Punjab Kings, plays during the IPL season. Recently, Preity interacted with fans on X (formerly Twitter), and during one such conversation, she revealed that she is raising her kids to be Hindu and that it helps her husband is agnostic.
In the tweet, Preity mentioned that she wants her kids to grow up with Indian values and know their roots, which is why she is raising them as Hindus. She wrote, “After becoming a mom & living in a foreign country I wanna make sure my kids don’t forgot they are half Indian. Since my husband is agnostic we are bringing up our kids as Hindus.”
Preity Zinta also expressed disappointment at having to explain her belief to everyone. She wrote, “Sadly, I am facing constant criticism & this simple joy is being taken away by my choice being politicized all the time. I feel I need to keep answering for being who I am or having pride in teaching my kids about their roots & religion 🕉️❤️ .”
I’m sorry if I sounded abrupt ! I have PTSD from this question. Appreciate your clarification 🙏After becoming a mom & living in a foreign country I wanna make sure my kids don’t forgot they are half Indian. Since my husband is agnostic we are bringing up our kids as Hindus.…

Preity Zinta’s response came after a fan asked her if she is joining the BJP, after noticing her visits to temples and the Kumbh Mela. Preity took this opportunity to set the record straight. She clapped back at the fan and wrote, “That’s the problem with people on social media, everybody has become so judgemental off late. As I said earlier, going to a temple / Maha Kumbh and being proud of who I am & my identity does not equate with me joining politics or for that reason BJP.”
Preity also admitted that living abroad has made her appreciate her country more. She wrote, ” Living outside India has made me realise the true value of my home country & like everyone else I do appreciate India & all things Indian much more now ❤️.”
