However, the app is set to make a comeback soon with huge changes with huge changes. Facer has announced that changes in the recently unveiled Wear OS 6 version will allow the watch face app to make a comeback to the platform, “better than ever.”

Facer announces a major comeback with Wear OS 6

Google introduced the latest version of its smartwatch OS, Wear OS 6, at its annual developer conference, the I/O 2025. Soon after, the well-known watch face customization app Facer announced a major comeback with the new Wear OS version. Facer will return to the platform with a revamped app. Alongside Wear OS 6, the updated tool aims to fix compatibility problems introduced by Google’s Watch Face Format transition in Wear OS last year.

When Google launched the Wear OS 5 update last year, it made the Watch Face Format mandatory. It left people without access to long-favored custom smartwatch face apps like Facer, WatchMaker, and more. Now, Google will offer expanded support for third-party watch faces, including a full Facer experience, in the upcoming Wear OS update.

Thanks to Google’s new Watch Face Push functionality, Wear OS 6 will also offer instant synchronization via the Facer app. The feature eliminates the requirement for users to download separate apps for each watch face from the Play Store.

Facer will offer over 500,000 custom watch faces

Facer claims to have the largest catalog of watch faces in the world. It has watch faces from major brands and independent designers for the latest Wear OS 6 smartwatches. The app has a catalog of over 500,000 faces and has already added support for thousands of these on smartwatches with Wear OS.

It’s worth mentioning that Facer will also offer simplified pricing for its customizable watch faces. It will provide watch faces for free, via one-time purchases, or through a full-access subscription. Google will roll out the Wear OS 6 update this fall, and Facer says it will provide more details regarding its revamped app as the launch approaches.

You can expect most, if not all, of the Facer watch faces in high demand to be available for your smartwatch by this fall. Furthermore, Facer will be introducing new features, exciting new brands, and exclusive discounts through its app.
