
Delhi News Live Updates: The Delhi Police has ordered an investigation into the fire that broke out at Dilli Haat Wednesday evening in which at least 30 shops were gutted. Police will examine CCTV footage from multiple areas to determine the cause of the fire on Wednesday night, an official said, as per PTI. “We have launched a detailed investigation into the fire incident that took place at Dilli Haat. We have formed multiple teams,” said a senior police officer. No casualties or injuries have been reported. Delhi Fire Services officials said they received a call about the fire at 8:55 pm, after it started in one shop and quickly spread to others. This was the second fire incident reported on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, at around 2:05 pm, DFS received a call about a fire at a cloth shop in Shahdara’s Gandhi Nagar.
In other news, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said that Delhi government will conduct the annual health check-up of workers, their families and will issue a notification designating the time between 12 noon and 3 pm as official rest hours for them. Addressing a programme to felicitate workers on the International Labour Day, Gupta said the BJP government is committed to ensuring better life for people who come to Delhi for livelihood and better health and education, adding that the Delhi government will also ensure that the workers are provided rest when the day is intensely warm, and bring out a notification for it.
What’s the weather like?: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in the Capital owing to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the next three days. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius, 2.1 notches above the season’s average, on Thursday morning, with maximum temperature expected to settle around 37 degrees Celsius. The air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 167 at 9 am, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
