Pixel 10 wallpaper leak reveals Google’s new design direction

Pixel 10 wallpaper leak reveals Google’s new design direction

Summary: A leak has surfaced showcasing what are alleged to be the wallpapers for the Pixel 10 series phones. The leak includes multiple wallpapers for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, with a mix of bright and vivid colors and more neutral or muted colors.

Google’s Pixel 10 series is due to launch in the second half of this year, but that hasn’t stopped leak after leak from popping up, and the latest seems to be of the wallpapers Google will be using on these new devices. In total, there are twelve wallpapers, four from each of the different Pixel 10 phones. Specifically, in this case, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Absent are wallpapers for the Pixel 10a and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The wallpapers provide an almost glass-like aesthetic, or that of colorful lenses, as 9To5Google points out. This seems like a reasonable assumption for the design theme. Though it’s not quite where my mind went when looking at these for the first time. My weird brain immediately looked at these wallpapers and went “huh, those kind of look inspired by the shape of red blood cells.”

That clearly isn’t what Google was going for here. But I doubt I’m the only one who saw it. Now, it goes without saying that images in the leak can’t be confirmed to be the Pixel 10 wallpapers. However, they provide the familiar spectrum of colors and designs based around a series of shapes that we’re used to seeing from Pixel phones. And really, any top-end phones from other manufacturers.

Pixel 10 wallpaper leak hints at possible new color options for the phones

It’s worth noting that this is based purely on speculation, as the leaker, Mystic Leaks on Telegram, merely proposes the idea. That being said, this wouldn’t be the first time that Google ended up using wallpapers in a color scheme that matches the color of the actual hardware. That doesn’t mean it will do that here, but it’s an interesting thought.

Especially when you consider the colors. The Pixel 10 wallpapers feature a mix of very bright colors with vibrant and saturated hues. Whereas the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL have more muted colors, like a neutral blue, green, and light brown or tan.

In fact, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL wallpaper colors are exactly the same. Their shapes and overall designs are slightly different from each other, however.

Colors may not change at all

While the idea of new colors to match these wallpapers is a nice thought, it’s worth remembering that there have already been leaks showcasing the possible colors. CAD renders for the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro XL surfaced back in March. And surprise, surprise, the colors are the same as the Pixel 9 series. At least on what’s shown. For example, the Pixel 10 CAD render shows off the phone in Peony, one of the new colors that came with the Pixel 9 series.

Another render, this one of the Pixel 10 Pro XL, showcases the phone in Hazel. This is also a color available on the Pixel 9 series phones. So it goes without saying that Google may be sticking mostly with the same colors here. If it does, this wouldn’t really be uncharacteristic of the company. The Pixel 8 also came in a Hazel color. Although the shade of the Hazel on that older series was slightly different. This also doesn’t mean that there won’t be one new color, as there typically has been with each new series.
