Google’s Circle to Search functionality is undoubtedly one of the most useful Android features, so much so that Gemini competitor Perplexity is also working on a similar feature. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas recently shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying that its version of Circle to Search will soon be available to all Android users.
He also shared a short video demo, where a user is chatting with Perplexity about the greatest tennis player of all time. When the user drew a circle around a bullet point about Roger Federer and asked about the “net worth of this guy”, Perplexity was quick to identify the player and came up with an answer after looking for information on the internet.

And while Perplexity CEO did say that the functionality will be “coming soon”, he did not share any details about the same. As one would expect, Google has already trademarked the term ‘Circle to Search’, so it is likely that Perplexity will have to call it something else.
Since its launch, Perplexity has emerged as one of the most capable AI chatbots, with many people now choosing to use Perplexity as the default digital assistant on Android instead of Gemini. Last month, the company also announced a new AI powered agentic web browser called Comet, but it is still unclear if it will be limited to smartphones or if it will be available on other operating systems like Windows and macOS.
