Parliament Budget Session 2025 Live Updates: Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are set to resume proceedings at 11 am today, after the Houses were adjourned following the passing of the Finance Bill. Rajya Sabha was adjourned after the Opposition staged a walkout following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on India’s handling of the Covdi-19 pandemic. It is expected that discussions over the Finance Bill will continue in the Lok Sabha today, while the Rajya Sabha is expected to discuss the workings of the Ministry of Home Affairs after Question Hour.
Opposition walkout in Rajya Sabha: Tensions rose in Rajya Sabha when Home Minister Amit Shah praised the NDA government for handling the Covid-19 pandemic, retaliating to the Opposition’s criticism. He also attacked Congress, saying that the people were so weary of the party and it scams that they voted them out of power. Ruckus ensued in the House after Amit Shah’s remark, following which Opposition MPs staged a walkout and the House got adjourned for the day.
Discussion over Finance Bill: The Finance Bill was passed in the Lower House on Tuesday evening, and it is expected that the discussion over the Bill will continue today. Meanwhile, it is expected that the Income Tax Bill will be introduced in the Parliament during the monsoon session. During the Finance Bill discussion yesterday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Union Budget of 2025-26 provides “unprecedented tax relief to honour taxpayers” and is aimed at boosting domestic production and enhancing export competitiveness.
