Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: India-Pakistan LoC skirmish continues for 12th straight night; MHA orders mock drills for civilians | India News

J&K Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Pakistan armed forces continued to violate the ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC), resorting to unprovoked firing in multiple sectors of Jammu and Kashmir last night. The attack prompted a strong, calibrated retaliation by the Indian Army, officials told PTI, marking the 12th consecutive night of  provocations amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam episode. The exchange of fire is currently restricted to five out of the seven border districts of J&K.

MHA orders mock drills, air raid warnings in states: The Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday ordered all the states to conduct mock drills for civilians on May 7 to protect themselves in case of ‘hostile attacks’. Further, the MHA has planned multiple measures including operationalisation of air raid warning sirens, training of civilians and students on protective civil defence protocols, implementation of crash blackout procedures, and early camouflaging of critical infrastructure and installations.

UNSC hold closed-door meeting on India-Pak tensions: Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council held a closed-door meeting amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, with envoys calling for restraint and dialogue. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half on Monday afternoon. While no statement as issued after the talks, representatives coming out of the meeting shared that there was a call for “dialogue and peaceful resolution of the conflict,” while the “situation remains volatile” between the two nuclear-armed countries.
