Pahalgam terror attack: Arijit Singh cancels his Chennai concert

Popular singer Arijit Singh has cancelled his upcoming concert in Chennai in light of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir that claimed at least 26 innocent lives. Following the attack, on Thursday, Arijit took to his Instagram stories and shared a note from the organisers of the event. The note also said that all the people who booked the tickets will automatically get a refund.

The note shared by Arijit Singh read, “In light of the recent and tragic events, the organisers along with the artist have collectively made the decision to cancel the upcoming show scheduled to happen in Chennai this Sunday, April 27”.

The singer and the organisers assured the attendees that they are liable to a full refund which will shortly reflect in the original source of their payment.

“All ticket holders will receive full refunds, and the amount will be automatically refunded back to your original mode of payment. For any queries write to events@district.in Thank you for your understanding”, they added.

The deadly terror attack on the tourists claimed at least 26 lives including a local, who fought the terrorists, and tried to snatch their gun, when he was shot at. The terrorist segregated the tourists based on their faith, and shot them after finding out their religion.

The terrorist outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF) has claimed responsibility for the attack. TRF is an off-shoot of the Pakistan based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, and came into existence following the historic abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir, which granted a special status to the Indian state, which is now a union territory.

According to reports, two to three terrorists wearing army fatigues opened fire on horse-riding tourists in the Baisaran area around 2:30 p.m. Baisaran is a small meadow located 3 to 4 kilometers from the Pahalgam market, typically accessed by tourists via horseback due to the absence of motorable roads.

Five terrorists — including three Pakistani nationals and two residents of Jammu and Kashmir — have been identified as the perpetrators of the horrific attack, which is being described as the worst terror strike to hit the region in nearly two decades.

Investigative agencies named the three Pakistani nationals as Asif Fauji (code name Moosa), Suleman Shah (code name Yunus), and Abu Talha (code name Asif).

Two other Valley-based operatives — Adil Guri, a local from Bijbehara in Anantnag who went to Pakistan in 2018, and Ahsan, a resident of Pulwama who also went to Pakistan in 2018 — were also identified, according to sources.
