OTT platforms to drop content with Pak origins

OTT platforms to drop content with Pak origins

The Government of India has asked all OTT platforms to discontinue the web series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content that have origins in Pakistan. This is purely advisory in nature.

Content affecting the sovereignty and integrity of India; content that threatens, endangers, or jeopardizes the security of the State; content detrimental to India’s friendly relations with foreign countries; content likely to incite violence or disturb the maintenance of public order has to be ideally taken down by OTT platforms.

The advisory comes in the wake of the worsening Indo-Pak relations following the Pahalgam terror killings and the consequent retaliatory strikes by the Indian military. OTT platforms and other streaming sites host hundreds of movies, videos and shows. Any of them could have content satisfying one or more of the points mentioned by the Government in its advisory.
