Amitabh Bachchan, who is known as one of the best Indian actors of all time, was very close to his late mother Teji Bachchan. Even now, he often shares anecdotes about her during Kaun Banega Crorepati. So when Teji was extremely ill and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Amitabh would sit by her bedside and make sure that she was being looked after really well. Nutritionist Khyati Rupani, who worked at the hospital at the time, shared in a recent interview, that once when Teji’s feed was delayed, Amitabh spoke to her kindly and requested her to make sure that there were no more delays.

Khyati was in conversation with Ronak Kotecha on his YouTube channel where she recalled Amitabh Bachchan as someone who was “very nice.” “You said name someone very nice, I must name Mr Amitabh Bachchan. Mrs Teji Bachchan was in the hospital for 11 months and she was on tube feeds,” she recalled and shared that during this time, they would sometimes witness some delays as they were dealing with an entire hospital full of patients. “In 11 months, sometimes, her feeds used to go late. It’s an operation. We are feeding 400 beds. We are dealing with salt restricted diets, we are checking everything,” she said.

She shared that the feed would sometimes reach 10 minutes late and Bachchan’s private nurse would get very angry with this. “By the time the feed reaches her, it is sometimes 10 minutes late and her private nurses used to be angry,” she said and shared that at one point, she went and checked on her in person because the delays had been reported twice in one week. “One fine day, I went because the complaint had come second time in the week. I went to meet her. Mr Bachchan was there. The nurse was blasting on me but Mr Bachchan was like, ‘Beta, please try and get it on time.’ After that, I made it my only job. She will get fed first. He was very polite,” she shared.
