After receiving 93 applications earlier this month, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is inviting vendors and food joints as it prepares to launch a night food market adjacent to the historic Salimgarh Fort in Old Delhi. The deadline to apply is May 7.
Of the 93 applicants, around 60 vendors were found to be eligible earlier this month. As per the eligibility criteria, the applicant should have a valid vending certificate.
“The number of eligible street vendors is not enough… We have reopened applications today, as many other vendors, including specialised food establishments, have been asking if they can be eligible to apply,” an MCD official said.
Earlier, entries were only open for street vendors, but now food joints can also apply to set up their carts. Around 50 slots are available. The participating vendors would be liable to pay municipal fees, along with sanitation fees, to the corporation.
