Former India cricket captain Nari Contractor has said that he is “deeply saddened, upset and disturbed” to hear news of Parsi Cyclists Sports Club “being sold.”
Contractor, 91, said in a press release last night that he had sent a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association president and secretary on March 14 “to get clarity on this subject” but he did not get a response even to the reminder a month later. It is learnt that MCA will send Contractor a reply.
Colaba-based Contractor stated that information was not forthcoming when he wanted “some details regarding the sale.” Contractor played for the club and is a former president. The Azad Maidan club once boasted of great names like Polly Umrigar, Farokh Engineer, Rusi Surti, and Contractor of course.
