Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has urged officials to utilize Artificial Intelligence to tighten tax collection processes and uncover tax evaders.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to plug loopholes in tax collection and track evaders with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and step up efforts to increase both tax and non-tax revenues.
Speaking at a review meeting of revenue-generating departments in Amaravati on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said Artificial AI tools deployed recently had detected non-GST registrations by over 1,000 builders already given occupancy certificates by municipalities.
He advised the officials to use AI to identify tax evaders, and all revenue-generating departments should adopt the same process to ensure strict tax collection. The traders should be informed that tax payments and getting permissions become easy by utilising technology, he said.
All the tax dues should be collected from traders without harassment and by maintaining close coordination with the traders, he said, adding the information of all departments, including tax-payers, GST portal, AT State Data Centre and the Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Department (APCTD) are interlinked with AI.
Andhra Pradesh registered a 2.2 per cent growth rate in the state’s own revenue in 2024-25 compared to the 2023-24 fiscal year. While a 4.1 per cent growth rate was reported in the tax revenue to the State Government, he said the increase in non-tax revenue was not on the expected levels. The growth rate in GST was 4.9 per cent, while the same was at 15.2 per cent and 24.3 per cent in professional tax and excise, respectively, Naidu said.
All the departments should strive hard to ensure that the State’s own revenue target of Rs 1,37,412 crore set for this financial year is reached by 100 per cent, Naidu said, according to a release.
