Mumbai Rain halts Bhansali’s Love & War shoot with Ranbir and Vicky

The relentless rains of May 26 brought parts of Mumbai to a standstill. Naturally, the ongoing shoots in the city weren’t unscathed. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has been shooting Love & War in Film City, Goregaon, over the past few months, was set to can an important sequence with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal on Monday afternoon. However, the downpour compelled him to call off the day’s work.

A source close to the production revealed, “It was a key dramatic sequence that was set outdoors and required specific lighting. But with waterlogging and unpredictable weather, it became impossible to go ahead. Bhansali sir didn’t want to compromise on the scene’s visual quality or the safety of his crew. It’s a unit of 500-plus and some people stay in far-off areas. It was impossible for them to reach the set because of train disruptions.”

The ambitious romantic drama boasts a casting coup of sorts with Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Kaushal leading it. Understandably then, charting the schedule with their combination dates hasn’t been easy. With heavy showers predicted in Mumbai for the next few days, we’ve heard that Bhansali has called for a break. The insider adds, “Ranbir and Vicky had blocked this week for Love & War; Alia wasn’t required for these portions. But given the weather conditions, they’ve taken a break. The shoot is likely to resume later this week after the situation stabilises. This brief halt, however, won’t disrupt the schedule.”
