
Mumbai Police has managed to recover 1,464 stolen and lost mobile phones from parts of the city in the past month. The phones, worth over Rs 3.22 crore, were on Thursday returned to their owners, the police said.
According to police, Mumbai Police`s Zones 3, 4, and 5 worked closely to recover the stolen or lost mobile phones.
The operation was led by CEIR portal operators, cyber officers, and crime detection teams, police said.
The police said that the following zones of Mumbai Police recovered the phones-
– Zone 3 – 356 phones: Tardeo (62), Nagpada (80), Agripada (48), Byculla (61), Worli (55), N. M. Joshi Marg (50)
– Zone 4 – 448 phones: Bhoiwada (72), Kalachowki (48), Matunga (79), R.A.K. Marg (58), Sion (69), Antop Hill (61), Wadala T.T. (61)
– Zone 5 – 660 phones: Dadar (138), Shivaji Park (113), Mahim (88), Shahunagar (70), Dharavi (97), Kurla (108), V.B.A. Nagar (46)
Apart from the recovered mobile phones (worth Rs 3 crore 75,000), gold, silver, and other precious metal ornaments worth Rs 21.87 lakh were handed back to citizens under the guidance of the Additional Commissioner of Police, Central Regional Division and in the presence of DCPs of Zones 3, 4, and 5.
