Mumbai News Live Updates: Union Minister Amit Shah will visit Raigad Fort on Saturday to pay respects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on account of his death anniversary and the centenary celebration of the renovation of the Shivajiraje’s mausoleum. Ahead of the visit, BJP MP Udayanraje Bhosale, who is the descendent of the Maratha ruler, said he has urged Shah to make an announcement about the construction of a Shivaji memorial in Mumbai.
Why Amit Shah’s visit is in the spotlight? Shah’s visit to Raigad comes amid political chaos in Maharashtra over debates regarding the legacy of Aurangzeb and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Union Home Minister is also expected to meet several prominent leaders in the Mahayuti alliance to discuss the appointment of Guardian Ministers in Raigad and Nashik.
‘Mumbai one’ smart card launched: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Mumbai residents will soon have the convenience of availing all public transport in the city on a single card with the new ‘Mumbai One’ smart card, after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave the go-ahead during a presser on Friday. “Once we have the system architecture in place, we will roll out the Mumbai One card for all Mumbaikars. It will indeed be a game-changer for urban mobility,” he said.
