Mumbai News Live Updates: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding an investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) into the alleged road construction scam of 2023-24. Thackeray has been vocal about the issue since January when he first exposed what he claims to be a massive scam in Mumbai’s road construction projects.
Speaking to reporters after a press conference, Thackeray criticised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for its claims that 26% of the work on the roads had been completed, insisting that in reality, the work is far from finished. “The government and the BMC are misleading the public. They claim that 26% of the work has been completed, but I firmly believe that not even 26% of the work has actually been done. The Economic Offences Wing should take up the investigation to uncover the full extent of this scam,” Thackeray said.
Nagpur Violence: Amid the ongoing tension in Maharashtra over calls to raze the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and subsequent riots in Nagpur, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday assured Muslim community that those spreading communal hatred will not be spared. “Your brother Ajit Pawar is with you. If anyone dares to intimidate our Muslim brothers and sisters or tries to spread communal hatred, they will not be spared,” said Pawar at an iftar party hosted by the NCP.
