In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 14-year-old girl was brutally murdered and her mother critically injured after being attacked with a sharp object by her father in Kalina, Santacruz (East) on Thursday night.

According to police sources, the incident occurred at Room No. 124, first floor, Shivnagar Chawl, near Takdir Hotel, Old CST Road, Kalina, Santacruz (East).

The complainant, Nizamuddin Kari Rain (21), the victim’s uncle and a painter residing at Indiranagar, Jambhalipada, Kalina, reported that his brother-in-law, Mohammad Suleman Kujra, attacked his 14-year-old niece Asgari, striking her on the head with a sharp, heavy object, causing her death on the spot. The accused also allegedly attacked his wife, Nasima Suleman Kujra, inflicting severe head injuries. She has been admitted to V.N. Desai Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Police said a domestic dispute triggered the attack, though the exact motive is still under investigation. A case under relevant sections of murder and attempted murder has been registered at Vakola Police Station.

Senior officers visited the crime scene. The accused, who fled after the attack, remains at large, and a manhunt is underway to trace and arrest him.
