Hyderabad – In yet another blow to the state’s revenue department, Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Talakondapally mandal in Ranga Reddy district, along with his office attender, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.
According to ACB officials, MRO B Nagarjuna had sought the bribe to process the registration and transfer of 22 guntas of agricultural land in the name of a local family. The bribe was allegedly demanded through the office attender Yadagiri, who acted as the middleman.
The complainant, a farmer, approached the ACB and reported the demand. Acting on the complaint, officials laid a trap and caught Yadagiri red-handed while he was accepting the ₹10,000 bribe from the farmer on behalf of the MRO.
During questioning, Yadagiri confessed that he was collecting the bribe at the instruction of MRO Nagarjuna. Both individuals were immediately taken into custody and are currently being produced before the ACB Court for further legal proceedings.
The ACB reiterated its appeal to citizens to report any cases of corruption by contacting the toll-free helpline 1064 or via WhatsApp at 9440446106.
