Kushinagar/Jabalpur: A viral video featuring 45-year-old Inder Kumar Tiwari from Madhya Pradesh has tragically ended in murder, after a fake marriage plot was allegedly hatched by a couple who saw him in a viral religious discourse. The video, which shows Inder asking Hindu preacher Aniruddhacharya Maharaj — popularly known as Pookie Baba — for guidance on his unmarried life, became the starting point for a conspiracy that led to his death in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district.
In the now-viral clip, Inder is seen asking the preacher, “I own 18 acres of land but I’m still unmarried. What am I to do with this land?” Maharaj humorously replied, “It seems Lord Brahma forgot to make someone for you.”
That public confession of owning land set off a deadly trap.
The Fake Marriage Setup
Shortly after the video gained attention, Inder was contacted by a woman named Kushi Tiwari, who expressed interest in marrying him. She introduced him to her ‘brother’ Kaushal Kumar and soon, wedding plans were made.
Inder left for Kushinagar on June 2, informing his family he would return by June 6. The wedding took place with full Hindu rituals, and the entire ceremony was recorded on video. But days later, Inder stopped responding to calls. A missing person report was filed on June 8. On June 11, his body was identified in Gorakhpur by Majhauli police.
Investigations revealed that after the wedding, Inder was poisoned to death.
The Real Identities and Motives
Further digging uncovered that Kushi Tiwari was actually Sahiba Bano, and her so-called brother was her boyfriend Kaushal Kumar. The duo had conspired to murder Inder and seize his property, having been lured by his land claim in the video.
They even produced a forged affidavit, allegedly signed by Inder, that transferred all his properties to his “wife” in the event of his death.
But their plan fell apart during the police probe. Jabalpur ASP Suryakant Sharma stated that Inder didn’t own 18 acres as claimed, but only three acres. He had also reportedly commissioned Rs 1.2 lakh worth of jewellery for the wedding, which was stolen and pawned by the accused.
Both Sahiba and Kaushal have been arrested and charged with murder and fraud.
A Tragic End Sparked by Faith and Deception
Inder’s brother Harishankar expressed grief, saying the family never imagined such a fate for a man who merely sought companionship and trusted too easily.
The case has sparked debates around viral social media influence, blind faith, and exploitation of vulnerable individuals under the guise of religion and love.
