So, you’ve decided that Spotify should be your next streaming destination. You spent years building up a library in another service, but it’s time to trade up. The issue is that Spotify does not have a native tool to help you import all of your music and playlists. That could change, as Spotify could be working on a music import tool.
If you want to get all of your playlists over to Spotify, you have two options. You could either pay a third-party service or go through the pain of manually recreating all of your playlists. Both options are painful in their own ways, and this is why people have been begging for a native import tool.
Spotify could be working on a music import tool
If this sounds good to you, don’t get your hopes up too much. This feature was discovered in an APK deep dive performed by Android Authority. This means that Spotify has not announced this feature yet. There is code present in the Spotify app version 9.0.56.459 that hints at this feature. However, it’s not a guarantee that the company will launch it.
The code contains the strings below:
<code class=”read-aloud”><string name=”your_library_import_your_music_offline_snackbar_message”>Go online to import your music</string>
<string name=”your_library_import_your_music_row_and_card_title”>Import your music</string> </code>
The strings point to a few things. Firstly, it looks like the option to import your music will be located in the Your library section of the app. Also, if you are offline, and tap on the import music option, you will see the message “Go online to import your music.”
Information on this is still pretty scarce, but we’re pretty sure that you will be able to import your music from other popular streaming services. Most likely, Spotify will let you import music from services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. That’s only speculation at this point, but those are the most likely candidates. We also can’t rule out Hi-Fi audio streaming services like Tidal and QOBUZ.
We’re also missing other important information, like when Spotify plans to launch the feature, how long the import process will take, and if you will need a premium subscription to use it. Only time will tell.
