The Mohali Municipal Corporation (MMC) is likely to blacklist firms and contractors, who abandoned development projects like sanitation, streetlight and park maintenance, paving blocks and road repairs midway or failed to complete projects on time or never started a project awarded to them, causing inconvenience to residents.
Mayor Amarjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu has written to Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh, requesting a proposal in the upcoming Municipal Corporation meeting to blacklist defaulting contractors.
The mayor said several contractors secured tenders over the years, but failed to complete projects, resulting in unfinished roads, neglected parks, and stalled infrastructure work. The issue had repeatedly been raised in council meetings, with numerous complaints from residents and councillors, the mayor said.
The mayor said the Finance and Tender Committee approved numerous projects and despite awarding tenders, many firms either failed to start work or left incomplete.
