Teja Sajja’s latest release Mirai opened to a thunderous response at the box office on Friday. After minting around Rs 13. 5 crore on the first day at the Indian box office, the action fantasy registered Rs 13.5 crore on Saturday. With great reviews and positive word of mouth, the Kathik Ghattamaneni directorial is likely to post astounding numbers on Sunday too. Mirai stood out for its visual grandeur, mythological depth, and strong performances.

Mirai’s terrific box office performance

After getting off to a flying start at the box office on the opening day (Friday), Mirai continues its terrific performance on the second day too. The film has set the cash registers ringing by amassing Rs 13.5 crore (nett) on the second day for all languages at the Indian box office. Mirai had an overall 71 % occupancy in Telugu while Hindi was around 18 % on Saturday. Teja Sajja’s authentic performance coupled with brilliant VFX and interesting plotline worked in the film’s favour big time. And according to trade estimates, more shows are being added in Telugu to accommodate the footfalls at the theatres. Many hail the film as Teja’s apt follow up after his breakout film, HanuMan.

Mirai crosses $1 million in North America

The pre-release buzz for Mirai was very promising in North America, especially USA. As a result, the Teja Sajja-starrer crossed the first milestone of $1 million collection on the second day (Saturday) itself. According to trade pundits, the film will touch $2 million by next week. The film is set to bring profits to the overseas distributor within its very first weekend. Teja emerged as a new box office draw with Mirai and is further strengthening his position in the film industry.
