Metropolis Healthcare to acquire Dehradun’s Dr Ahujas’ Pathology & Imaging Centre

Metropolis Healthcare Limited has formalized an agreement to acquire Dehradun’s diagnostic chain Dr Ahujas’ Pathology and Imaging Centre (DAPIC), a month after it had inked an agreement to acquire Agra-based pathology company.

Under the agreement, Metropolis’ wholly owned subsidiary Metropolis Histoxpert Digital Services Private Limited will acquire 100 per cent ownership of DAPIC in an all-cash deal valued at ₹35.01 crores, it said.

The latest transaction would strengthen Metropolis footprint in North India, it said.

Founded in 1990 by Dr Alok Ahuja and Dr Alka Ahuja, DAPIC operates two laboratories accredited by NABL and NABH, 11 patient service centres, and nine hospital-based centres, the note added.

It offers a range of pathology and soft radiology services, including ultrasound, ECG, and X-ray. And in FY 2024-25, DAPIC recorded an estimated annual revenue of ₹11.5 crore (unaudited*), with pathology services contributing 73 per cent and radiology services 27 per cent. “With 80 per cent of its revenue coming from walk-in patients, the chain has built a strong B2C presence, making it a valuable addition to Metropolis’ growing network in North India,” the company said.

The founder would continue their association with the business post-acquisition, it added.

Ameera Shah, Promoter and Executive Chairperson, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, said on the acquisition, “With the acquisition of Core Diagnostics earlier and DAPIC now, we are further strengthening our ‘String of Pearls’ strategy—aimed at building a robust and regionally diverse diagnostic network across North India. These strategic moves have expanded the North India contribution to our overall revenues from 8 per cent to an estimated 14–15 per cent. Building on this momentum, we aim to accelerate our expansion across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand—two high-growth markets with significant potential.”

Surendran Chemmenkotil, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, pointed out, “Uttarakhand is one of the fastest-growing diagnostic markets in North India, valued at approximately ₹500 crore. This acquisition strengthens our presence, expanding access to high-quality diagnostics while deepening engagement with doctors and patients.”

“we are now the second-largest diagnostic chain in Uttarakhand. This integration will enhance both B2B and B2C reach with a comprehensive test portfolio, including specialized diagnostics. Furthermore, we will expand accessibility through a structured franchise model, reinforcing our commitment to scientific excellence and superior healthcare delivery,” Surendran Chemmenkotil added.

Dr Alok Ahuja, Founder of Dr Ahujas’ Pathology & Imaging Centre, added, that the partnership would help DAPIC’s next phase of growth. EY was the exclusive financial adviser to DAPIC and BDO India LLP acted as the financial advisor to Metropolis, the note said.
