The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) had on March 10 begun trials on the Phase-II stretch of the project between Sector-1 and Sachivalay in Gandhinagar and officials say that once these trials are completed, permission will be sought from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety to certify and operationalise the stretch of the metro line.
This would offer Sanchivalay employees, most of whom commute to Gandhinagar from Ahmedabad, an easier travel option between the two cities.
The Indian Express has also learnt that the last stretch of the work, between Sachivalay and Mahatma Mandir, is likely to be completed by December 2025.
Trials are likely to begin in December and the last stretch of the metro is likely to become fully operational in the beginning of 2026.
