Manchu Manoj’s Presence a Silver Lining, Bellamkonda is a Demerit

Bhairavam’s trailer suggests a film clinging to outdated aesthetics. The relentless action sequences and heavy-handed family drama, set against a temple backdrop, feel distinctly uninspired. While Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas appears to be a weak link, Manchu Manoj’s presence offers a glimmer of hope. Nara Rohit’s performance remains uncertain.

The film is a remake. While the original was made as a neo-noir action thriller, the remake doesn’t seem to have a unique flavour of its own. The reliance on a predictable template and tired visuals is evident. Action directors Ramakrishna and Nataraj Madigonda have worked on the movie.

Directed by Vijay Kanakamedala, Bhairavam co-stars Jayasudha, Aditi Shankar, Aanandi, Divya Pillai, Ajay, Raja Ravindra, Sarath Lohitashwa, Sampath Raj, Sandeep Raj, and Vennela Kishore. Sricharan Pakala has the task of outperforming Ajaneesh Loknath (the Kantara music director) but it is doubtful if he has achieved that task. Brahma Kadali has taken care of the Art Direction in a largely indistinct style.

Bhairavam will head to theatres on May 30.
