Man dies after getting entangled in hot air balloon rope during trial run in Rajasthan | Trending News

In a tragic incident in Rajasthan, a man died after getting entangled in the rope of a hot air balloon during a trial run. The accident took place at the Khel Sankul Complex during an event organised to mark the 35th Foundation Day of Baran district, according to PTI.

The deceased, identified as Vasudev Khatri from Kota, was reportedly caught in the balloon’s tether and lifted into the air to a height of over 60 feet. A video of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows Khatri being hoisted upwards before the rope broke, leading to his fall. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Following the incident, authorities cancelled all remaining events planned for the three-day Foundation Day celebrations, which had begun on Tuesday.

According to NDTV, the hot air balloon involved belonged to a company that had previously worked with the district administration. Speaking to PTI, Baran City DSP Omendra Singh Shekhawat said Khatri had over 20 years of experience in the field.

This is not the first hot air balloon mishap reported this year. In January, a balloon carrying six passengers veered off course due to strong winds after taking off from Pollachi, during the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department’s 10th Hot Air Balloon Festival. It eventually landed in a field about 20 km away in a village in Kerala.
