Mahindra Posts Robust Growth Across Auto and Farm Segments in April 2025

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), one of India’s leading automotive and farm equipment manufacturers, reported strong performance across both its Auto and Farm Equipment sectors for April 2025, registering significant year-on-year growth.

Auto Sector Sees 19% Overall Growth

The company’s Auto Division clocked total sales of 84,170 vehicles in April 2025, marking a 19% growth over April 2024. The highlight was the Utility Vehicles segment, with 52,330 units sold in the domestic market, reflecting a strong 28% year-on-year growth. Including exports, total UV sales stood at 54,860 units.

Domestic commercial vehicle sales stood at 22,989 units, with mixed performance across sub-segments. While Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) under 2 tonnes dropped by 21% (2,652 units), LCVs between 2T–3.5T grew by 9% (19,141 units), and LCVs above 3.5T along with Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MHCVs) saw a 10% growth (1,196 units).

Three-wheeler sales were marginally down by 1% at 5,470 units. However, exports surged significantly by 82%, reaching 3,381 units, up from 1,857 in April 2024.

Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, said, “These numbers indicate the strength of our portfolio and customer offerings. We began the fiscal year on a strong note, building on last year’s momentum.”

Farm Equipment Sector Grows by 8%

Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) also recorded a strong performance, selling 38,516 tractors in the domestic market in April 2025—an 8% increase over 35,805 units in April 2024. Total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 40,054 units, showing the same 8% growth year-on-year. Tractor exports grew by 25%, reaching 1,538 units.

Hemant Sikka, President – FES, credited the growth to strong rural demand, good crop prices, high mandi procurement, and strong financing support. “Retail momentum was strong, supported by the Chaitra Navratri festival and a promising forecast for the southwest monsoon by IMD,” he noted.

Founded in 1945, the Mahindra Group operates in over 100 countries and employs 260,000 people. It is the world’s largest tractor company by volume and a leader in utility vehicles, IT, financial services, and renewable energy. The group is focused on sustainable growth through ESG leadership, rural prosperity, and urban development.
