
A 25-year-old man died after he was allegedly pushed off a moving Konark Express train in the Karjat–Bhiwandi section in Maharashtra, the officials said on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Vinod Kamble, a resident of Pune who was travelling in the train when the incident took place, said the officials.
According to the officials, the incident took place at around 4:23 am on Tuesday while Vinod Kamble and his friend Ganesh Shahaji Devkar were travelling in the second general coach. Due to heavy crowding, they were seated near the door.
Devkar told the police that a man asked them to move. When they refused, the accused allegedly pushed Kamble out of the moving train.
The suspect was later identified now identified as Mangesh Ramdas Dasore (40), a resident of Gajanan Nagar in Maharashtra`s Akola.
The train escort party, consisting of RPF Head Constable RR Diwakar and Constable Yogesh Belote, was alerted regarding the incident.
Dasore was immediately detained and later handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Thane station for further investigations, said an official.
The accused admitted to the act after being caught, he said.
“After receiving the alert, RPF ASI Nasreen Mujawar and Constable Sheshrao checked the railway stretch. Kamble was found injured at Kilometre 93/25 by the GRP Karjat team. He was rushed to General Hospital in Karjat where doctors declared him brought dead,”the official said.
He said that Dasore was placed under arrested and was in police custody.
