With MAD Square grossing almost Rs 70 Cr by the end of Monday (Day 4), the makers of the crime comedy are now sure that their expected total of one billion rupees is within reach. The sequel is well on the path to break into the Rs 100 Cr club.
“Theatres lo navvulu. Theatres baita houseful boards-uu. Everything is being rewritten by the MAD GANG. #MadSquare hits 69.4Crs+ Worldwide gross in 4 days and continues its Blockbuster Run (sic),” Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas stated on social media.
S Naga Vamsi today drew the attention of critics to the fact that MAD Square’s success is a fluke. “It’s not true that people are watching it because it is a sequel,” he added. Trade analysts and industry observers would agree with him. The male leads of the movie have no star image. The comical strength of MAD Square is helping it race toward the one-billion club.
Sangeeth Shoban, Narne Nithin, Vishnu Oi, Ram Nitin and others have received a shot in the arm after the movie’s release. MAD Cube is now a confirmed reality. “I believe that scenes in a movie have to go beyond what the audience can predict or expect. Be it entertainment or emotion, they have to be along unpredictable lines. Comedy is a genre I like the most because, these days, anything can make people angry. Frustrations are running high. A comedy film is the least they deserve,” director Kalyan Shankar recently said.
