Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed his next ventures within the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Speaking in an interview, he revealed that Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, and a standalone film centered on the menacing character Rolex (Suriya) are currently in development.
Interestingly, Kanagaraj also shared that Leo 2 was initially conceived as the concluding chapter of the LCU. However, these plans have since been altered, given that Thalapathy Vijay won’t be doing any films due to his political entry. In a way, it’s a blessing in disguise for the LCU, given Leo is considered a weak work by the director.
Kathi 2 was announced in March this year. The director has teamed up with Karthi for it. The movie will be produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and KVN Productions. This one could hit the cinemas in the second half of 2026.
LCU’s greatest merit has been the quick pace at which Kanagaraj completes big-ticket movies.
Lokesh Kanagaraj awaits the release of Coolie on August 14. The action thriller is headlined by Superstar Rajnikanth. Akkineni Nagarjuna and Upendra have prominent roles in it.
