Amid swirling rumours surrounding Tamil actor Sri’s (Shriram Natarajan) health, his friend, renowned filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, has released a statement, allaying all fears regarding his condition and emphasising that he’s receiving expert medical care. Speculations concerning his health arose among fans after videos and photos hinting that he had lost a lot of weight and undergone a massive physical transformation surfaced online through an unverified Instagram account.
“We would like to inform all well-wishers, friends, and members of the media that actor Shriram is under expert medical care and is currently taking some time off from social media following his doctor’s advice. We kindly request everyone to respect his need for privacy as he focuses on his recovery and well-being,” the statement shared by Lokesh, on behalf of Sri’s family and friends, said.
“Speculation and misinformation can be extremely distressing, and we urge all media platforms both online and offline to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified updates about his health. We also appeal to media platforms to remove any objectionable content or interviews based on his current condition and to respect his personal space as he focuses on recovery. We also do not endorse any views expressed by certain individuals in interviews and deny the same completely. We thank you for your continued love, support, and understanding during this time,” they added in the statement.
Reportedly, Sri had also been posting explicit content via the aforementioned unverified Instagram profile. After the posts went viral, several netizens took to the comment section to express concern over the actor’s current state while also urging him to take care of his mental health. Later, producer SR Prabhu of Potential Studios had also taken to social media to share concerns about the actor’s current condition.
While he rose to fame through his performances in movies such as Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2012) and Onaayum Aatukuttiyum (2013), Sri also played one of the central characters in Lokesh’s directorial debut Maanagaram (2017), bankrolled by Prabhu. Sri was last seen in Yuvaraj Dhayalan’s Irugapatru (2023), co-produced by Prabhu.
