Laapataa Ladies fame Nitanshi Goel to make Cannes debut

It is truly the year of Nitanshi Goel. The 17-year-old who rose to fame with her performance as Phool in India`s official Oscar entry, Laapataa Ladies is all set achieve a major milestone. After winning top acting honour this year for her performance in Laapataa Ladies, Goel is all set to make her debut at the prestigious Cannes 2025.  

Nitanshi Goel to make her Cannes debut

Nitanshi is the youngest actor to debut at Cannes and grace the red carpet for the global beauty brand, L`Oréal Paris, the official beauty partner of Cannes for the 28th year in a row.

Sharing her excitement about her Cannes debut, Nitanshi said, “I came into this industry with aspirations of making things happen for me. From the incredible journey of `Laapataa Ladies` to now standing on the global stage at Cannes, I am getting closer to realizing them. I am that girl who is representing every Indian girl out there who dreams big and is ready to go and achieve them, come what may. Being able to represent those girls at a global stage is a moment of sheer happiness. By me being on the carpet, I wish to empower each female out there who is taking charge of their life, dreams, and career. It`s an absolute honour.”

Indians expected to attend Cannes 2025 

Actress Alia Bhatt will also be marking her debut at Cannes. The actress will be walking for the global beauty brand L`Oreal. Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has been representing the brand for over a decade will be returning for the red carpet. 

Just a year after winning the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, filmmaker and All We Imagine As Light director Payal Kapadia is all set to return to the festival. This time, she has become part of the prestigious jury as one of the judges. The filmmaker will be joining the jury for the 78th Festival de Cannes, chaired by Juliette Binoche, the festival organisers shared

Sharmila Tagore will be attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival 2025 for a special screening. She will be present at the screening of the 4K restored version of master filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s 1970 film Aranyer Din Ratri

Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, which stars actors Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, has officially been selected for the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Ghaywan, the movie will be screened in the Un Certain Regard section — a category known for presenting artistic cinema from across the world.

Anupam Kher’s much-anticipated directorial, Tanvi The Great, is all set to put Indian cinema on the global stage like never before. The film will have its world premiere at Cannes, within the Marché du Film, during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2025.
