Hyderabad, July 3: Former Telangana chief minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) was admitted to Yashoda Hospital late Thursday night after he complained of general weakness. A medical bulletin released by Dr. MV Rao, general physician at the hospital, revealed that KCR was suffering from elevated blood sugar levels and low sodium levels, which prompted the hospitalization.
According to the release, all of KCR’s other vital parameters are stable and within normal limits. The 71-year-old leader is currently under close observation, and doctors have assured that his condition is stable.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, upon learning of KCR’s hospitalisation, reached out to inquire about his health and conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery.
This is the second hospitalization for KCR in recent months. In December 2023, he had undergone hip replacement surgery following a fall at his farmhouse in Erravalli. He was discharged later that month and has since kept a low public profile, especially after the BRS faced defeat in the Telangana Assembly elections held last year.
KCR’s rare public appearances have sparked ongoing speculation about his political future. While some expect him to make a political comeback before the next election cycle, others believe he may soon pass on the party reins to his son and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR).
His most recent public appearance was during the party’s plenary held in April 2024, which marked the BRS’ 25th anniversary. Since then, the veteran leader has not participated in any public rallies or events.
