Historic Shaikpet Mosque
Hyderabad, July 3: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA from Karwan, Kausar Mohiuddin, has urged the Telangana government to allocate ₹50 lakh for the renovation of the historic Masjid-e-Shaik in Shaikpet. The legislator raised the issue during a meeting with special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, expressing concerns about the deteriorating condition of the Qutub Shahi-era mosque.
Mohiuddin emphasized the cultural and historical importance of the mosque, stating that urgent restoration was needed to preserve the monument. In the same meeting, he also brought attention to the Eidgah located near the Seven Tombs, which, he said, requires new flooring and general maintenance to accommodate the growing number of worshippers.
Apart from heritage conservation, the MLA also met with GHMC commissioner R V Karnan and zonal commissioner Anurag Jayanti to push for the completion of five pending stormwater drainage works in the Karwan constituency, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
In a separate meeting with Telangana State Waqf Board officials, Mohiuddin discussed a range of issues related to Waqf properties. He requested the formation of a management committee for the LangarHouz dargah, sought protection of land belonging to the Imampura graveyard, and demanded a survey of the dargah located at Kanchi Basti to ensure its boundaries are safeguarded from encroachments.
The MLA’s efforts come as part of a larger initiative to improve civic infrastructure and preserve religious heritage in his constituency.
