The Mumbai crime branch on Friday said that it has solved the Kandivali firing case and nabbed five suspects including four contract killers and the prime accused.
The police said that the Crime Branch Unit–11 in arrested five people involved in connections with the attack on 40-year-old property dealer Freddy D’Mello at Kandivali West.
The main accused, identified as Rajesh Ramesh Chauhan (42), a resident of Kandivali, had a long-standing dispute over property and money with the victim, D’Mello, police said.
Chauhan had hired four contract killers to kill D’Mello, an official said.
According to Crime Branch officials, victim Freddy D’Mello and Rajesh Ramesh Chauhan had been in contact and had a long-standing dispute over property and money. Chauhan hired shooters to kill D’Mello. All four accused were traced to Bhor village in Pune on Friday afternoon. The Crime Branch also recovered a pistol from the accused, which was used to fire at D’Mello.
“The accused in the case have been identified as Rajesh Ramesh Chauhan alias Daya (42), a resident of Kandivali; Subhash Bhikaji Mohite (44), a resident of Virar; Mangesh Eknath Chaudhari (30), a resident of Bhor in Pune; and Roshan Basantkumar Singh alias Krishna (25), a resident of Kashigaon in Thane,” said an official.
Earlier, the Charkop Police had arrested Munna Mayuddin Shaikh alias Guddu (35), who works as a manager at a bar and restaurant in Mumbai.
