At a time when everyone was waiting with bated breath for a development on Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2, director Nag Ashwin has sprung a massive surprise. According to sources, the Mahanati helmer would soon set to direct superstar Rajinikanth in his upcoming film. The interesting development has certainly got the trade and audiences excited.

Prabhas’ busy date diary

Nag Ashwin has been working on the writing of Kalki 2 till recently. On the other hand, Prabhas’ date itinerary looks packed. The superstar has been working for The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, and on another film Fauji, under director Hanu Raghavapudi to go on floors. So for all practical reasons, Prabhas is not available for the next couple of years. This means, Nag Ashwin can only plan Kalki 2 after 2027. And in hindsight, the director has decided to change his guard. He decided to collaborate with Rajinikanth for a high-budget entertainer. The director also wants to take up another film parallelly and wrap up before taking up Kalki 2.

Rajinikanth’s film to go on floors next year?

Nag Ashwin has been toying with an idea to direct Rajinikanth. When the filmmaker found a suitable script for the superstar he reportedly approached and bounced the idea.
