Kajol opens up about her decision to do Maa and what inspired her

The trailer of the highly anticipated mytho-horror Maa featuring Kajol was recently launched. Ever since the makers released the trailer, fans have been excitedly talking about the upcoming film. The spine-tingling trailer has sparked a lot of discussions, as many have lauded the trailer. The film is headlined by actress Kajol, who has gained considerable praise for her fierce look in the trailer. And now, the actress has opened up about why she decided to do the film backed by her husband, Ajay Devgn.

Kajol opens up about doing Maa

During an interesting conversation with R Madhavan, Kajol opened up about her love for Maa Kali. She also shared that her love for the deity was one of the driving forces for her to get on board. Speaking about the movie Kajol revealed,”What hit me the most was and I wanted to do the movie because of Maa Kali. I love her and she is Maa in my head, and I always felt like her hand is on my head. She is always behind me and that was one of the reasons why I adored the script, and of course, the script was excellent. When we first heard the script we were sure it was going to be a fantastic film.”

About Maa

Maa is the story of a mother who took the form of Maa Kali to end a demonic curse rooted in fear, blood, and betrayal. The film stars Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma along with Kajol. The film is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan. The screenplay is written by Saiwyn Quadras, while Sandeep Francis has edited the film. The music is composed by Harsh Upadhyay, Rocky Khanna, and Shiv Malhotra.

The horror film is slated to release in cinemas on June 27, 2025 and will be released in four languages, namely Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.
