Justice Arun Palli recommended as Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh High Court | Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice Arun Palli as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. At its meeting held on April 4, 2025, the Collegium proposed the appointment of Justice Palli, who currently serves as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana HC. The recommendation comes as part of the Collegium’s ongoing efforts to fill key judicial positions across the country.

Justice Palli graduated in Commerce and earned his law degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1988. He began his legal practice at the Punjab and Haryana HC, where he gained expertise in a wide range of legal areas, including civil, criminal, constitutional, revenue, industrial, and labour law.

He was appointed Additional Advocate General for Punjab in September 2004 and served in the role until March 2007. He was designated a Senior Advocate in April 2007 and frequently appeared as Amicus Curiae in several significant matters before the HC.

He was elevated as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana HC on December 28, 2013. Since May 2023, he has been serving as executive chairman of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority and was nominated to the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority for a two-year term beginning October 31, 2023.
