As was reported a few days ago, Jr NTR will be doing a film titled ‘Made In India’. This pan-Indian movie has been touted to be a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the Father of Indian Cinema.
But the media might have made an error in concluding that the film is a biopic of Phalke. Phalke’s grandson has been quoted as saying that the makers of the movie haven’t approached the family to procure their consent. A biographical movie can’t be made without the prior consent of the concerned person’s descendants. “No one from Rajamouli’s team has ever reached out to us. If someone is making a film on Phalke ji, it’s essential to consult the family. Ignoring us is unfair, for we hold the true legacy and insights into his life,” Phalke’s grandson has been quoted as saying by a media house.
It is possible that the team of the movie didn’t approach the family because their movie is not a biopic of a person. In 2023, when the project was announced, it was described as a biopic of the Indian cinema industry (and, by extension, not of a single individual). Jr NTR is playing Phalke but his might not be a full-fledged role.
SS Rajamouli is presenting the movie. Â
