
The Jogeshwari Police have in Mumbai have solved six cases of cheating and arrested two repeat offenders from the ‘Bol Bachchan Gang’. The accused have been identified as 46-year-old Ramesh Jaiswal and his associate Nilesh Ghag (33), both residents of Chembur.
Jaiswal has 81 criminal cases registered against him.
Police said they have recovered the property stolen in the six cases from the two accused.
On September 16, two unidentified men stopped 70-year-old Kistura Choudhary, who was walking in the Mahakali Caves area of Andheri, and engaged him in conversation. During the chat, they managed to steal gold rings worth about Rs 3.40 lakh from his hand. A case was registered in this regard at Jogeshwari Police Station.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Zone 10) Datta Nalawade and Senior Inspector Iqbal Shikligar, a team led by Inspector Charu Bharti and Assistant Inspectors Sudarshan Patil, Vinod Lad, and Nagesh Misal, along with Sub-inspector Mahadev Todankar, examined both government and private CCTV footage. Police said the accused were seen following the complainant near Rajbar Hotel in Jogeshwari East.
With the help of technical analysis and informants, the team traced and arrested Jaiswal and Ghag from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Mundhwa areas of Pune district. Investigations revealed that Jaiswal alone has as many as 81 cases of theft and fraud registered against him across police stations in Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, and Vasai-Virar areas.
Following their arrest, the police have solved cases registered at Borivali, Kalyan–Kolsewadi, Mahatma Phule, Bazaarpeth, and Dombivli–Ramnagar police stations.
Further investigations are underway to determine in how many more crimes the accused were involved.
