Jofra Archer records most expensive spell in Indian Premier League history, leaks 76 in 4 overs

Rajasthan Royals pacer Jofra Archer recorded the most expensive figures in the Indian Premier League history when he was hit for 76 runs by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL 2025 Match No. 2 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. Archer’s figure reads 4-0-76-0. Mohit Sharma, playing for Gujarat Titans leaked 73 against Delhi Capitals in 2024 to sit second on the list now.

Jofra was hit for 11 fours in four sixes, resulting in 68 runs out of the 76 coming in from boundaries off his deliveries. The English pacer was introduced in the fifth over for the first time in the evening by skipper Riyan Parag. Jofra leaked 23 off his very first over, where Travis Head hit him for five boundaries. Parag then brought him in after a breakthrough in the 11 overs where Jofra was hit for 11 runs, his most economical over the spell. His last two overs accounted for 22 and 23 runs, respectively.

SRH registered the second-highest total in IPL history. They posted a mammoth 286 in 20 overs after being put in to bat on the batting-conducive surface of Hyderabad. The first innings was lit by Ishan Kishan, who slammed a 45-ball hundred for his SRH debut.
