There is no amount of thank-yous one could say to their mother for all that she does. On the occasion of Mother’s Day today, Ira Dubey is honouring her actor-mother Lillete Dubey by dedicating 100 trees in her name. The trees are being planted in Baran, Rajasthan — a region where reforestation efforts are making a tangible difference to rural ecosystems and livelihoods.
For Ira, the decision is deeply rooted in love and admiration for her mother, and to support biodiversity while offering long-term ecological and economic benefits to the area. “What better way to celebrate my mother, who has always been a nurturing force in my life, than by giving something back to mother Earth in her honour?” she queried.
This green tribute is meant to improve the lives of local farming communities. A thoughtful selection of tree species — Amla, Teak, Guava, and Ber — has been chosen for their adaptability to the region’s climate. “My mother has spent a lifetime nurturing young talent in the theatre. I thank Grow-Trees [the NGO] for giving me an opportunity to not only honour her contributions but also contribute to a tree-planting initiative and protect biodiversity,” asserts Ira.
