For the first time in 18 years, RCB finally managed to lift the IPL trophy. With RCB fans celebrating the win that ended their 18-year drought, there is something else, which made the situation a bit more exciting.
The ex-co-owner of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the night of Tuesday, took to X and congratulated them. Mallya, who is a fugitive and currently does not resides in India, expressed how he feels by putting his bet on an 18-year-old Virat Kohli in the early days of the IPL. He also wrote that he had the honour to sign two of the most special batsmen the game has ever seen, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. He stated that Universe Boss Chris Gayle and Mr 360 AB De Villiers have always been an integral part of the franchise.
Vijay Mallya, while expressing his emotions just a few hours after RCB lifted the IPL 2025 trophy posted on his X account “When I founded RCB, it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru. I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster, and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years. I also had the honour of picking Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, and Mr 360 AB De Villiers, who remains an indelible part of RCB history. Finally, the IPL trophy arrives in Bengaluru. Congratulations and thanks again to all who made my dream come true. RCB fans are the very best, and they deserve to win the IPL trophy. Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru baruthe.”
Expressing his love towards the team, Mallya seemed to be emotional while writing this post and appreciating the franchise`s performance in the 2025 season.

Vijay Mallya was surely one of the major persons in making the IPL a huge success during its initial days. The ex-co-owner of the team backed Virat Kohli and never let him go from the franchise even when his first few seasons did not go as expected.
While the emotions behind his tweets were clearly to exhibit warmth towards the franchise, the RCB fan army trolled him. People, while reposting his X post, wrote, ” Now it`s your turn to make SBI`s dream come true.” Whereas the other person said, “SBI was founded with the dream of zero bad loans; we all know how that turned out. But you couldn’t even stay in India; I guess some dreams aren’t as strong as Kohli’s loyalty or SBI’s optimism.”
Owing to the fact that RCB fans were extremely happy after their first IPL trophy, the fans did not like Vijay Mallya`s post on X.
