
Integral Coach Factory (ICF), the premier passenger coach producing unit of Indian Railways in Chennai, surpassed its previous production records. For the year 2024-25, it rolled out 3,007 coaches against 2,829 last year, says a release.
Of the 3,007 coaches produced, 1,169 were Distributed Power Rolling Stock (DPRS) coaches, which included Vande Bharat Sleeper, Vande Bharat Chair Car, EMU and MEMU. The remaining 1,838 are LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, the release said.
Among the major highlights last year, ICF manufactured the first-ever 16-car Vande Bharat Sleeper rake that was rolled out by ICF; introduced for the first time in its history eight treasury van coaches and manufactured the first 12-car Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, the release says.
ICF produced 21 rakes of Vande Bharat trains and four rakes of 22 coaches each for Amrit Bharat 2.0. These rakes feature upgraded facilities for long-distance travel, the release said.
