Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has maintained its position as the second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India for the financial year 2024-25, recording total sales of 7,62,052 units, the company announced. The total includes domestic sales of 5,98,666 units and exports of 1,63,386 units, reinforcing HMIL’s status as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter cumulatively.
The company reported total sales of 67,320 units for March 2025, comprising 51,820 units in domestic sales and 15,500 units in exports, representing a year-over-year growth of 2.6%.
SUVs continue to drive HMIL’s growth strategy, accounting for 68.5% of the company’s domestic sales in FY 24-25. The Hyundai CRETA has emerged as India’s top-selling SUV in the January-March quarter with 52,898 units sold. The company also celebrated reaching cumulative milestones of 2.5 million SUV sales and 1.5 million CRETA sales since inception, including both domestic and export figures.
“Solidifying our position further in India, HMIL continued its rein as the second largest passenger vehicle OEM in FY 24-25, thanks to the unparalleled trust of our customers on brand Hyundai,” said Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL.
“Our versatile SUV line-up grew stronger this financial year with the launch of the Hyundai CRETA Electric – our first indigenous EV and also the bold new Hyundai ALCAZAR. India’s favourite SUV, the new Hyundai CRETA continues to build on its popularity, by becoming India’s No.1 SUV with sales of 52,898 units in Jan-Mar quarter of FY 24-25. HMIL further set industry benchmarks by surpassing the milestone of 2.5 Million SUV sales and 1.5 Million CRETA sales since inception (domestic + exports),” he further added.
The company’s performance follows the launch of new products including the CRETA Electric, which marks Hyundai’s first indigenously developed electric vehicle for the Indian market, and the new Hyundai ALCAZAR, further expanding its SUV portfolio.
