Hyundai Creta Tops India’s Car Sales in April 2025 for Second Straight Month

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced that the Hyundai Creta remained the highest-selling car in the Indian automotive market for the second consecutive month. The company reported that 17,016 units of the SUV were sold in April 2025, reflecting a 10.2% increase over the same month in 2024.

From January to April 2025, the Creta also led SUV sales in India with a cumulative total of 69,914 units. In April 2025, SUVs accounted for 70.9% of HMIL’s domestic sales, marking the highest monthly SUV contribution to date for the company. The recent launch of the Creta Electric is seen as an additional factor that supported this performance.

Commenting on the development, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer at HMIL, said that the Creta’s position as the top-selling model across all segments for two consecutive months and its leadership in the SUV category for the first four months of the year highlight its continued appeal among customers. He added that the electric version has added to the model’s reach in the evolving Indian EV market.

First launched over a decade ago, the Hyundai Creta has become one of the company’s most popular models, with more than 1.2 million units sold in India.

The Hyundai Creta is a midsize SUV offered by Hyundai Motor India and is available in multiple powertrain configurations, including petrol, diesel, and electric options. The model includes a range of features designed to cater to different customer requirements.

On the exterior, the Creta is equipped with LED headlamps, daytime running lights, and connected LED tail lamps. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a panoramic sunroof, depending on the variant. The overall design is aimed at providing a contemporary SUV appearance.

Inside, the Creta includes a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a digital instrument cluster, and features such as dual-zone climate control and ventilated front seats on higher variants.

The cabin layout uses a dual-tone theme with soft-touch elements. Additional features include ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, and a sound system option from Bose. Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car technology is also available, offering remote functions and vehicle status monitoring.

In terms of safety, the Creta offers up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and a rear-view camera. Higher trims include features under Hyundai’s ADAS suite, such as lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

The vehicle is available with three internal combustion engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 116 PS and 250 Nm, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 160 PS and 253 Nm. These are offered with various transmission options, including manual, IVT (CVT), 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT.

The recently introduced electric variant features a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. Detailed technical specifications of the electric version are expected to be shared in due course.
