HYDRAA Demolishes
Hyderabad, July 7, 2025: In a significant move to address urban encroachments and restore public access, the Hyderabad Disaster Response Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished a compound wall in Nizampet municipality that had obstructed the daily commute of over 25,000 residents across 10 colonies.
The wall, constructed by Praneeth APR Pranav Antilia, a residential layout near Bachupally, had blocked a 40-60 ft public road that once connected Mallampet to Pragathi Nagar via Bachupally X Roads—reducing the commute from 3 km to a frustrating 8 km. Residents alleged that the wall was built to restrict “outsiders” from using what the developers claimed was internal road space.
Following a detailed inspection and stakeholder meetings, HYDRAA concluded that Praneeth APR Pranav Antilia was not a gated community as per Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) approvals and was not entitled to block public access.
“Thousands of people in the locality will benefit from the removal of this wall. Traffic congestion near the new ORR exit will reduce significantly. Some individuals are spreading misinformation for personal interest,” said HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, citing Rule 7 of HMDA layout approvals, which prohibits the construction of compound walls around approved layouts.
HYDRAA’s Weekly ‘Prajavani’ Receives 49 Complaints
The wall removal comes on the heels of HYDRAA’s weekly Prajavani grievance redressal programme held at Buddha Bhavan, Secunderabad, on Monday, July 7, where 49 complaints were filed—primarily regarding illegal encroachment of public roads, parks, and government lands by individuals and developers.
-
Gajularamaram residents alleged that a developer had encroached upon a 30-ft public road within a 7-acre, 102-plot layout.
-
In Chinna Kranthi Colony, Chengicherla (now urban), 1,800 sq. yards of park land was allegedly encroached in Survey Nos. 114, 118, 120, 121.
-
Kothaguda village (Serilingampally) residents accused Jubilee Garden Colony owners of building an illegal wall to capture 14 guntas and 1 acre 2 guntas of suspected government land.
HYDRAA has assured that all cases will be investigated, and action will be taken to protect government and public assets from illegal occupation.
