Hyderabad Zoo to Launch Night Safari with Nocturnal Animals

Hyderabad Zoo

Hyderabad, July 7, 2025 — Exciting news for wildlife lovers! The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is set to introduce a night safari, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness the behavior of nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. This comes after the Central Zoo Authority of India (CZAI) recently lifted its long-standing ban on night safaris in Indian zoos.

According to a report by The Times of India, the plan is currently in its preliminary stages, but authorities aim to make the night safari operational within a year. Once launched, the safari will run daily from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, showcasing animals that are typically active after sunset.

What to Expect

The night safari is expected to feature a range of nocturnal species, including owls, hyenas, civets, jackals, jungle cats, and possibly big cats like leopards under controlled conditions. Lighting and safari paths will be designed to minimize disturbance to the animals while maximizing the visitor experience.
