Hyderabad friends’ road trip ends in tragedy: Two killed in Narketpally crash; three injured

Their SUV collided with a lorry illegally parked on the roadside near Aplingotam village on NH-65.

A joyride to Vijayawada turned tragic for a group of five friends from Hyderabad when their speeding car crashed into a stationary lorry in Narketpally, Nalgonda, early on Sunday (March 9, 2025).

The accident claimed the lives of two individuals and left three others injured. The deceased have been identified as Sai Kumar Goud (32) and Chilla Sagaram Sandeep (27.)

Those injured were identified as Shivaratri Praveen (28) who was driving the vehicle, Dhandugula Madhukar (27) and Hareesh (25.) They are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Narketpally. All five men were residents of Alwal and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

According to Narketpally SI Kranti Kumar, the group was en route from Hyderabad to Vijayawada when their SUV bearing the number ‘TS 08 GP 8686’, travelling at approximately 130 kmph, collided with a lorry illegally parked on the roadside near Aplingotam village on National Highway (NH)-65. The accident was reported between 4.45 a.m. and 5.15 a.m..

“The impact of the crash was severe, causing Sai and Sandeep to die on the spot. We also recovered some beer bottles from the vehicle, but it is yet to be determined whether they were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident,” he stated.

The Narketpally police have registered a case against the lorry driver identified as Kasim Vali (40), a resident of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, and taken him into custody for questioning. The crash caused a brief traffic congestion, but the officials removed the vehicles to restore the flow of traffic on the Highway. Further investigation is on.
